Beautiful Kohimarama beach will be home to Junior Sail Auckland again in 2014. We expect 200-250 sailors for this busy regatta on 8-9 February 2014. This is a two day regatta that is held at Kohimarama Yacht Club every year.
KYC and Glendowie Boating Club created the Sail Auckland Regatta (now the Oceanbridge Sail Auckland Regatta (OSA) hosted at Royal Akarana Yacht Club) this regatta is for Olympic and invited classes. It was felt that a version of this regatta would be great for the junior classes.
Junior Sail Auckland is open to Optimists, P Class, Starlings, Splash, RSX, Laser Radial, 420, 29er. Last year we had a number of sailors sail double handed boats in OSA then sailed single handed at JSA. This really tests a sailor’s skills in two quality regattas a week apart in different yachts!
Optimist sailors enjoy this regatta as it is a big regatta but is not a ranking regatta, therefore they can sail hard but without the pressure of team selection. More information will be published as it comes to hand, watch this space.
